United-Continental Flight Attendants Eager to Win AFA Representation for their Unified Work Group

Flight Attendants cheered out loud at the Your AFA meeting at the Crowne Plaza EWR Airport when dates for a union representation election at the recently merged United-Continental Airlines were announced last week as United Flight Attendants marked the 65 anniversary of the signing of the first Flight Attendant contract. The National Mediation Board (NMB) announcement that more than 24,000 United, Continental and Continental Micronesia Flight Attendants will begin voting on May 17 was welcome news for Flight Attendants eager to bring real Flight Attendant union representation to their unified work group.

“We are determined to further strengthen the voice and status of Flight Attendants and to introduce our newest members to the expansive opportunities of AFA membership,” said AFA International President Veda Shook.

Your AFA Meeting will be broadcast live on the Internet on May 4, 1500-1700 Eastern.
Flight Attendants around the system have the opportunity to learn more about AFA, ask questions live and participate in an on-line union meeting.

For more information about AFA, Flight Attendants are invited to participate in the May 4 online Your AFA Meeting webcast and to attend one of the in-person Your AFA meetings listed at www.yourafa.org.
